Mountain View shuts down its entire Flock network

verifiedcarried forward

Police Chief Mike Canfield ordered the city's 30 ALPR cameras switched off effective Feb 2, 2026, after learning Flock, not the department, had enabled statewide and national lookup settings without authorization, despite Mountain View configuring its system to block such sharing. City Council voted 7-0 on Feb 24, 2026 to cancel the contract.

How we know: Confirmed, with a second independent source: the Javorsky complaint corroborates the city's account.
