A figure that circulated in August 2026 said ICE spent $57 million on skip tracing in a single month. Skip tracing means paying companies to find people's current addresses. A later report by Project Salt Box, citing federal spending data, supports the figure, but we have not checked those federal records ourselves, so it stays off the verified list for now.
